College Planning Seminar for Juniors

College Planning Seminar for Juniors

The guidance department will be hosting a College Planning Seminar for Juniors in the Littleton High School Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 7 p.m.

Our presentation will focus on the college admission process and a timeline for juniors.  An overview of the Naviance College Management System will also be presented on this evening. With most of the college admission process now completed through the Naviance system, it is important for students and parents to be knowledgeable.  The many features available through Naviance will allow you to develop a systematic and organized college information database that is personal to your student.

Starting third term, we will be meeting with our students once a week during their study hall in a Junior Guidance Seminar. The information presented at the College Planning Seminar will be presented to students during the seminar. Topics will also include college searches, college visits, standardized testing, college application and essay requirements.  Juniors that do not have a scheduled study hall will meet individually with their school counselors.

For those unable to attend this presentation, hand-outs will available in the Guidance office.  We look forward to seeing you on the evening of January 10th at 7:00 p.m.

The scholarship exam will consist of 30 “multiple choice” questions and one essay question with a response of 250-500 words. The exam will be administered on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Littleton High School by the guidance department.

A copy of the application, study guide and post card that needs to be filled out by the exam coordinator (Guidance) and returned to our office no later than Monday, December 19, 2016.

Students interested in taking the labor history exam on February 2, 2017 submit an application to the guidance department by Friday, December 16, 2016.  We are now accepting online applications.  Students who apply online will still need to submit a copy to the guidance by the deadline provided.

Eligibility – Students with a union affiliation are eligible for both the Massachusetts AFL-CIO awards and those awards listed under their specific local union/central labor council.  Students with no union affiliation are eligible only for the Massachusetts AFL-CIO scholarships.

Upcoming Blood Drive- December 3rd

Dear Littleton Residents,

My name is Jeffrey Campbell, I am organizing a blood drive at the Littleton Middle School on Saturday, December 3rd, at the holiday Bazaar on December 3rd as my Eagle Scout project, and I am inviting everyone to come and enjoy the Bazaar and also sign up to donate blood. I have a Sign-up Genius link here and there are still plenty of open spots.

In the US alone, 36,000 units of blood are needed every single day. This blood helps everybody from victims of car crashes to children born with sickle cell anaemia, who require frequent blood transfusions throughout their entire lives, as well as countless others. So please, this holiday season, sign up to give the gift of life to somebody in need.

I hope you have a happy Holiday Season and I really appreciate your contribution to help save lives, whether that is by donating if you can or by sharing this information with friends and family.

Jeffrey Campbell

Support for Bruce Elementary Students in Lawrence

Special message from LHS Alumna, Amanda Nawoichik, who is now a science teacher at the Bruce School in Lawrence, MA:

As many of you have heard, there was a fire at an elementary/ middle school in Lawrence on Monday. The Bruce serves grades 3-8 and is one of many community schools of Lawrence.

All students and staff are safe and our building is being evaluated. We are so grateful for that. We won't have school for the next week and possibly for an extended period of time.

Everyone had to leave behind all personal belongings when the building was evacuated, and unfortunately many of the students' belongings were damaged by the fire, smoke and the water that was necessary to contain it.

Many families in our community will not easily be able to replace these items (especially as the holidays approach) so I am asking for your help. We are in need of winter coats, sweatshirts, backpacks and school supplies. Most of the damage was done in the 6-8 wing of the school, so our middle school students are most in need.

I'm asking that as you look in your basement for decorations, clean out your closets to make room for company, etc... you keep us in mind.

Any donation is greatly appreciated and I can pick up anything local whenever it is convenient for you."

Please bring items to Mrs. Harvey.  Thanks.

Midsummer Jersey- November 18-20

LHS Drama Club news

Littleton High School Drama presents the Ken Ludwig comedy, "Midsummer / Jersey." "Midsummer/Jersey" is the hilarious high-octane re-telling of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream set on the boardwalk of a seaside town in modern-day New Jersey.

The story revolves around the impending marriage of the Governor of New Jersey, the love affairs of four beach-bound high school crushes, a lively crew of fairies and the staff of the local beauty salon. With several weddings and the acting careers of six beauticians hanging in the balance, the lovers take to the boardwalk, backed by pop music and an iPhone-obsessed wood sprite.

Please join us at the LMS Cafeteria on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19 at 7:30pm and Sunday, November 20 at 3 p.m. for Midsummer Jersey.

For general admission tickets visit:
Tickets may be picked up starting 30 minutes prior to the performance.
