School Climate Survey- Week of February 6th
Littleton High School was selected to participate in the ED School Climate Survey/(EDSCLS) National Benchmark Study, which collects information on multiple aspects of school climate
from different stakeholders: students, teachers, and noninstructional staff.

The EDSCLS National Benchmark Study will collect respondent data through
an anonymous, self-administered web survey.

Participation will allow LHS to compare our school’s climate scores against national
averages and schools with similar demographics. The school report will also provide actionable data to address particular challenges as well as areas for improvement.

Please see the emailed information letter. If you do not want your child to participate, this letter also serves as an opt-out form for you to sign and return to the Main Office; however, we do encourage you to allow your son/daughter to participate in this helpful survey.

MIT Science on Saturday Information

This is a reminder that our next free MIT campus Science on Saturday event will be "Your Developing Brain" at 10:00 a.m. on February 4th. This show will be presented by the MIT Brain and Cognitive Sciences Department. You can donate your live brain to science--volunteers from the audience will be able to assist with the on-stage demonstrations to illustrate how your brain works. After the stage show, there will be many different hands-on activity tables where kids can do their own experiments with various aspects of neuroscience.

There is also half-price, same-day admission to the MIT Museum for Science on Saturday attendees.

All of our Science on Saturday events on the MIT campus are free and open to all elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as their parents and teachers. They are sponsored by the MIT Museum and the Akamai Foundation. Parking and seating are limited, so we recommend that you arrive early. Attendees can park in either the West Garage (very close to the event) or Albany Garage (a ~10-15-minute walk from the event) provided they can pay the $8 flat fee with a credit card at either parking garage. Alternatively, attendees can take MBTA buses to the MIT Massachusetts Avenue stop (very close to the event) or the subway to either the Central or Kendall Square T stops (a ~20-minute walk from the event). For maps of the event and parking garage locations, please see the attached advertising flyer or our web page:

Please plan to join us 10:00 a.m.-noon on the following Saturdays in MIT’s Kresge Auditorium, 48 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02139:

March 4, 2017       Chemistry

April 1, 2017          How the Internet Works

October 14, 2017   Biotechnology

December 2, 2017  Nuclear Science and Engineering

Please forward this information to anyone else who may be interested. Feel free to send me an email if you are not on our mailing list and would like to be, if you are receiving duplicate emails, or if you are on our mailing list and would like to escape.

Thanks!
