Polar Plunge Update
The Polar Plunge has been moved to Sunday, April 2nd due to the messy weather predicted for Saturday. The time and place - 11 a.m. at Long Lake - remain the same.  Please come out and support Special Olympics.  You can be a" Penguin" and take a dip or a "Chicken" and lend support from the shore.


Class of 2017: Message from LEF 
NEW THIS YEAR! 
Littleton Education Fund will help you congratulate your favorite high school senior!  Order a mylar balloon in Littleton school colors through LEF and we will deliver it to your favorite graduating senior and display it on his or her mailbox!  

The balloons will be yellow with a blue pawprint and say "Congrats Graduate". They will also include matching ribbon and a personalized message from you. The order form with additional details and a picture of the balloon is attached. Balloons are $8.00 each.
ORDER DEADLINE IS MAY 5TH.
BALLOONS WILL BE DELIVERED JUNE 1.

Brainstorm Your College Essay

Wednesday, April 56 to 7:30 p.m. and Thursday, April 66 to 7:30 p.m., in Westford

This two-part workshop is for juniors only. Designed to help students find a topic for their college application essay, the workshop offers a brainstorming session followed by writing exercises with feedback. Students will leave with a solid topic, sample essays, and an opening paragraph for their essay.

Financial assistance is available.

About the tutor
Joyce Pellino Crane is an award-winning journalist, recognized for editorial writing by two major newspaper organizations. Her essays have appeared in the Boston Globe, Newsday, and GateHouse Media publications. She has taught college essay workshops to high school students for several years. Joyce is the news director at Westford Community Access Television and is an approved Westford Academy tutor. She is the former editor of the Westford Eagle and Littleton Independent.

The HS PTA is pleased to announce the purchase of 80 copies of LHS Junior Hannah Lord's book Rubber Soul. for the LHS Book Club.

The statewide Girls STEM Summit is this Sunday at Regis College in Weston, MA.  The HS PTA provided registration fees for 5 of our students.  The students attending are: Savannah Arimento '19, Katrina Fiorentino '17, Aditi Deokar '20, Kiana Bucceri '20 and Jenna Marcopul '17.  

The Russell Street School PTA is hosting their annual basket raffle & ice cream social on Thursday, April 6th from 6-8 pm. 

We'd like to share with you our 2017 Basket Raffle Catalog in case there were any baskets that you would like to try and win. Our wonderful baskets were donated by RSS faculty & staff, classrooms, parents, local/small businesses, museums, theatres, etc. 

There are a large 55" TV, gift cards galore, Kindle Fire, Chromebook, tons of passes to lots of NE places, Patriots memorabilia, Red Sox tickets, and the list goes on. We welcome you to attend our event, but in case you can't make it, there is a preorder form included in the catalog.  

You will need to drop off your order to the office at Russell Street School by Monday, April 3rd!
REMINDER: If you plan to preorder tickets, please make sure to include preprinted address labels with your name and phone number only. Winners do not need to be present to win but will be called the next day.

SEPAC Meeting
The SEPAC meeting on transition planning for students age 18-22 will now be held on  APRIL 4 at 7:00 in the library seminar room at Littleton High School.

Tapes for Education Program
The Tapes for Education Program sponsored by Donelans has come to an end for this school year.  NOW is the time to pass in all your receipts so they don’t go to waste.  

All collection boxes will be picked up on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 so make sure to gather all receipts and turn them into any of our four schools or the town library, Thank you!

Littleton Public Schools is lucky to participate in The Tapes for Education Program sponsored by Donelans this school year 2016-2017. This is an incredible program that allows all four schools in Littleton to earn FREE school equipment.

From September 1, 2016 - March 31, 2017, we will be able to turn cash register receipts from Donelans Supermarkets into valuable and important educational equipment free of charge. 

Note: We need the 
entire receipt, including the itemized list of purchased items; please do not cut them. It is OK to black out the credit card information.

Last Day of School Notification:
As of today, the Last Day of School is scheduled for Monday, June 26th.  It will be a half day for all. Please also note that June 19th is no longer a half day.

Trivia Night at High School
The high school PTA is once again holding its Trivia Night. This year's event will be on FridayMarch 31 with the first round kicking off at 7pm.

Teams can pre-register at LHSTrivia@gmail.com (just so we have some idea of how many teams to expect) but we will also take registrations the night of the event. Registration fees can be paid the night of the event. $10 per player.


Attention Students! The student entry fee has been reduced to $5 per player. Additionally, each player on the highest scoring student team will receive a Dunkin Donuts Gift Card!

Our 12th annual science and engineering fair at LMS is next Tuesday, 3/28, from 6:00 until 7:30 pm

Graduation will be held on the LHS Field behind the high school on June 2, 2017 at 5:30 p.m.

Our rain date is June 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.  In the event of rain/poor field conditions, Graduation may be held in the LHS Performing Arts Center on June 3rd at 10:30 a.m.

Senior end of year events list is attached.



Littleton Special Education Parents Advisory Council

The Littleton SEPAC will host Michele Hirth at our next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 14th at 7:00 pm in the Library Seminar Room in Littleton High School.  Join us to learn about transition services.  Michele Hirth is a special education teacher at Littleton High School who concentrates on developing the Transition Program that seeks to ensure that students are college and career ready.



Senior SOS Screening- March 31st
LHS will conduct the annual SOS Screening for seniors during the morning on Thursday, March 31st.

This depression screening/suicide prevention program is an established LPS health program.

Just about all of our students have participated in prior screenings.
This helpful prevention tool has been an LPS routine for over ten years.

If your child does not want to participate, s/he can opt out.
If you do not want your child to participate, please let us know before next Thursday.  Thanks for your help with this important health screening.

Kelly Davis- Archery State Championship


LHS's Kelly Davis won the NFAA (National Field Archery) MA State Indoor Championship in her division - Young Adult Female Compound Freestyle - with a 298 out of 300 w/ 42x (bullseye center shots)!  

She's worked very hard for it and will compete in regionals on April 1st!

While it may not look like it outside, spring begins on Monday....We are moving right through March and ahead in the school year.

Kudos to our World Language students and teachers for hosting a fabulous World Language Festival last night.  Wonderful music, vibrant displays, colorful costumes, and delicious food....

Special thanks go to Mrs. Beth Steele and the Student Council for coordinating an exciting and spirit-filled Pep Rally this afternoon. Students showed extraordinary enthusiasm and love for their school!
